You're right, Dominic. The piano sound on Facing You is incredible. The engineer on that record was Jan Erik Kongshaug. I'm not familiar with his work, but he's German, and I've been extremely impressed with German sound engineers overall. Check out practically any release from Germany's MPS record label to see what I mean.

Thank you for recommending "Still Live", "Tokyo 96", "Spheres", and "Book of Ways". I will certainly check them out.

I agree wholeheartedly. What strikes me most about Facing You is the incredible sound KJ gets from the piano. It's probably also to do with the recording technique, and the fact that at that time he was touring heavily with Miles' electric band - so Jarrett presumably would've been very relieved just to play an acoustic piano. But it's also to do with the fact that he's an absolute piano genius. By the way if you're still not a big Keith Jarrett fan, I recommend trio albums "Still Live" and "Tokyo 96" and Organ/Clavichord recordings "Spheres" and "Book of Ways" - all of which are more in the vein of Facing You.
