Random Acoustics
The RANDOM ACOUSTICS publishing house was founded in Cologne in 1993 by Georg Graewe. The label records electronic music as well as contemporary chamber music, new jazz, and of course cross-overs in these areas.
Rastacan Records
Rastascan Records is an artist run label that allows its artists to present their music exactly as they see fit, without compromises. Our artists take part in every step of production–from recording to printing–so that the listener can be assured they are receiving a complete document of the artist’s intent.
Red Giant Records
An independent, artist run recording and distribution label founded by guitarist/composer Liberty Ellman in January 1997. Featured artists include Vijay Iyer and Midnight Voices.
Reservoir Music
Reservoir Music was formed in 1987 with the intention of recording the best musicians in Jazz. Artists represented include Nick Brignola, Kenny Barron, Peter Leitch, John Hicks, and Steve Kuhn.
Resonance Records
Resonance Records is a division of the Rising Jazz Stars Foundation, a California 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation created to discover the next jazz stars. They assist and support them through recording, performance opportunities and distribution of their art.
Roadhouse Records
Contemporary grown-up sounds rooted in the pacific north-west. Artists include: Woody Shaw, Kenny Wheeler, Joe Henderson, Ralph Bowen, Phil Dwyer, John Gross, Ross Taggart, Campbell Ryga, Hugh Fraser, Bob Murphy, Don Thompson, Pat Coleman, Dave Holland, Neil Swainson, Ken Lister, Buff Allen, Claude Ranger, Joani Taylor, Colin Lazzerini, and more.
Rounder Records
Rounder Records, originally of Cambridge, Massachusetts but now based in Burlington, is an independent record label founded in 1970 by Ken Irwin, Bill Nowlin and Marian Leighton-Levy, while all three were still university students. Starting with blues, blues-rock, string band, and bluegrass, Rounder has expanded to over 3,000 titles of folk, soul, soca, Cajun, and jazz.
Rune Grammofon
Rune Grammofon is a Norwegian record label founded in 1998 by Rune Kristoffersen. Rune Grammofon’s reputation for lovingly issued electronic, jazz, and improv music has grown over the years with its artists being featured heavily in magazines such as The Wire and Plan B Magazine. The label is home to the widely respected improv group Supersilent as well as the solo work of its members including Deathprod and Arve Henriksen. A few other notable releases are Shining, Susanna and the Magical Orchestra, Jono El Grande, Skyphone, Alog/Phonophani and Food.
Rykodisc
Rykodisc is a reissue label, with the Gramavision, Hannibal Records, Ryko Latino, Slow River Records, and Tradition sublabels. Artists representated include John Scofield, Bob Moses and McCoy Tyner.
