If you’re over a certain age, you probably have a collection of LPs somewhere, and you need something to play them on, but that’s not the only reason you need to own a turntable.
If you’ve read my post Finding Out of Print titles, you know that since jazz is a niche market, titles go out of print all the time.
In fact, some of the very best titles haven’t made it to CD and probably never will! So, if you’re really serious about listening to as many of classic jazz recordings as possible, you’ll need to invest in a basic turntable, if you don’t own one already. They’re not that easy to find these days, but here’s a well-reviewed one, the Technics SL-1200 Black TurnTable.

But what if you don’t want to slap the LP on the turntable every time you want to hear it? Well, you can transfer your LPs to CD, and it’s not as expensive and time consuming as you’d think. For more information, see my post Taking Care of Your Old LPs - Transferring to CD Part 1.
